Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are read back by the site on subsequent visits to recognize you, remember your preferences, or understand how you're using the site. Cookies can't run code or carry viruses — they're simply data files.
There are two broad categories. First-party cookies are set directly by the website you're visiting (in this case, MineralWise). Third-party cookies are set by external services — analytics platforms, ad networks, or embedded content providers — whose code runs on the page.
Cookies also vary by how long they last. Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period, or until you delete them manually.
How We Use Cookies
MineralWise uses a limited and purposeful set of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking networks that follow you across the web.
Essential cookies are required for the site to work correctly. They handle things like remembering your cookie consent choice so you aren't prompted again on every visit. Without these, parts of the site would not function.
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors engage with our content — which pages are most read, how long visitors stay, and where people enter and exit the site. This data is aggregated and anonymous. We use it to improve the quality and relevance of our mineral rights resources. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
Preference cookies may be used to remember choices you make on the site, such as display settings, so you don't have to reset them each time you return.
We do not use cookies for advertising, remarketing, or cross-site behavioral profiling.
Your Rights by Region
Privacy laws vary significantly depending on where you are located. Here is how your rights apply:
California, Colorado, and Connecticut (United States). Residents of California have rights under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA/CCPA), including the right to know what personal data is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale or sharing. Colorado residents have similar rights under the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), and Connecticut residents under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA). If you're in one of these states, you can decline non-essential cookies using the banner at the bottom of this page.
European Union and GDPR regions. If you are located in the EU, UK, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction covered by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent law, you have the right to give or withhold consent before non-essential cookies are set, and to withdraw that consent at any time. The cookie banner we display is designed to respect that right.
Rest of the world. Even if local law doesn't require a formal consent banner in your region, you still have the ability to manage your cookie preferences. You can decline non-essential cookies at any time using the banner or by clearing your browser cookies.
How to Manage Your Consent
When you first visit MineralWise from a qualifying location, a banner appears at the bottom
of the page. You can choose to accept all cookies or decline non-essential ones. Your choice
is stored in a cookie named cookie_consent for one year so you won't be asked
repeatedly.
If you change your mind, you can clear this cookie at any time through your browser's privacy or history settings (look for "Clear cookies" or "Clear browsing data"). The next time you visit, the banner will reappear and you can make a fresh choice.
You can also configure your browser to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or alert you each time a cookie is set. The steps vary by browser — check the help documentation for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge for instructions specific to your setup.
Third-Party Services
Some pages on MineralWise may load resources from third-party services — for example, web fonts, embedded maps, or analytics tools. These services may set their own cookies independently of ours, subject to their own privacy policies. We do not control those cookies or the data those third parties collect.
When you decline non-essential cookies on MineralWise, we make a best effort not to load third-party analytics scripts. However, some functionality (such as fonts or security services) may still make requests that involve cookies outside our direct control. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you encounter.
